A curvaceous fruit |
It promises to be a very good time to be had by all who attend. We went last year.
Bywater is a beautiful neighborhood, closely packed, dense and colorful, full of the most interesting people you will ever meet. It is a splendid place to visit, which we do regularly. We imagine it is just as nice a place in which to live.
Before we moved to the 2200 block of Esplanade Avenue, we considered Bywater. We were living in the Lower Garden District at the time. The difference between the Bywater and the Garden is the difference between Downtown and Uptown. Our experience with New Orleans had mostly been uptown and when we moved to our current home we didn't know what to expect.
Downtown is relaxed. When it dresses to impress, it is only to impress itself. You will bump into nice people all over New Orleans. I know I have. After two years living downtown, I have to say I prefer this side of Canal Street. To get a good taste of Bywater, think about attending the Mirliton Festival. You won't regret it. If you need somewhere to stay, you know where we are.
In other news, the 6 t' 9 Social Aid and Pleasure Club is having its 6th annual Hallowe'en parade on October 23 this year. The club will march from the 6th Ward t' the 9th Ward, between 6:00 and 9:00PM. Your hosts will be marching in it. Consider joining the club if you are going to be in town.
